Vishal R Raval completed his primary medical education from Nashik District Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj's Medical College, Nasik and his DNB in Ophthalmology from K J Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai. He did a Research cum Vitreo-retinal fellowship from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, before joining LVPEI in 2013. He later did his International Ophthalmic Research Fellowship in Ocular Oncology at Cole Eye Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, under Dr Arun Singh, as his mentor. He has published widely in the peer-reviewed journals and presented at various conferences. His areas of clinical interest are in the field of vitreoretinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and ocular oncology including management of intraocular tumors such as retinoblastoma, choroidal melanoma & various other retinal & choroidal tumors. In the research front, he is keen on translational animal research in the field of ocular oncology, particularly retinoblastoma.
