Triumph at Sierra Point Marina: 2024 In-Person Cure Coats' 5K Raises Hope and Funds for Coats' Disease

In a heartening display of community solidarity and determination, the 2024 In-Person Cure Coats' 5K at Sierra Point Marina has left an indelible mark on the fight against Coats' Disease. Held on a crisp, sunlit morning, participants, supporters, and volunteers converged with one shared goal: to raise awareness about Coats’ Disease and vital research funds to find a cure.

Against the backdrop of the scenic marina, participants of all ages, from seasoned runners to first-time walkers, donned their Cure Coats' shirts and eagerly took their places at the starting line. The race officially kicked off the week-long Virtual Cure Coats’ 5K, where participants from all over the world, including Canada, Scotland, and Greece, will move to save a child’s sight.

As participants crossed the finish line, cheers erupted, celebrating not just personal achievements but also collective progress in the fight against Coats' Disease. The event wasn't just about physical exertion; it was about raising funds that will directly contribute to groundbreaking research aimed at improving treatments and ultimately finding a cure for Coats’ Disease.

The success of the 2024 In-Person Cure Coats' 5K was also a testament to the power of grassroots organizing of Board Member and Race Director, Gary Brickley, and the generosity of board member volunteers, participants, and local sponsors. From logistical support to generous donations, the community rallied around the cause, demonstrating that together, we can make a difference.

"We are incredibly grateful for everyone who participated, volunteered, or contributed in any way," said Gary Brickley. "This event has exceeded our expectations and will propel us forward in our mission to find a cure."

The 2024 Cure Coats' 5K stands as a shining example of how a community can come together, both in-person and around the world, to turn hope into action. Through determination, compassion, and a shared vision for a better future for Coats’ patients, we continue on a course toward conquering Coats' Disease, one stride at a time.
